How these guides are made

The guides on this site are drafted with the help of a language model and published through an automated pipeline. That is worth stating plainly, because it changes what you should expect and what we owe you.

Cited facts only

Every factual claim in a guide — a tolerance, a fine, a regulation, a speed limit, a count of jurisdictions — has to trace to a source the pipeline actually retrieved, and that source is listed at the foot of the article. A draft whose claims cannot be matched to a retrieved source is rejected and never reaches the site. This is enforced in code, not by good intentions: the publishing step refuses articles that fail the check.

What we prefer as a source

Regulations, statutes and the bodies that write them, in that order: UN and EU regulation texts, national transport departments and police forces, official statistics agencies. Where only a secondary source exists we say so in the citation rather than dressing it up.

What these guides are not

They are not legal advice. Traffic law changes, enforcement thresholds are discretionary in many places, and figures go out of date. If a penalty or a rule matters to your situation, check it against the authority that issues it — which is why we link to them rather than asking you to take our word.

Originality

Guides are written for this site. The pipeline checks drafts for near-duplicate passages against what we have already published and against the sources it retrieved; quoted material is quoted and attributed rather than paraphrased into our own voice.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and stamp the article with an updated date. Every guide carries its publication date and, once corrected, the date it changed.

Commercial interest

We make a navigation app and these guides exist partly to be found by people who might want it. That is the honest reason the site has a blog. It does not license us to overstate what the app does, and claims about the app on this site are limited to what the shipping version actually does.
